PREVENTION

The Boddys will never know the exact cause of the E-coli that Grayson contracted. Some think that he got it in Mexico while others think he may have been exposed to in Toronto from recalled food that had not been packaged properly.

Regardless, there may have been ways to prevent his exposure and they would like to share the knowledge they have gained:

• Practice proper hygiene, especially good handwashing ​

• Wash fruits and vegetables well under running water

• Cook meats thoroughly and avoid cross-contamination in food preparation areas

• Avoid raw milk, unpasteurized dairy products and unpasteurized juices
